| 1st Jun 2003 | Mountain biking site is a huge hit! | ||||||
|
s8080 developed site pulls in 1.2 million hits a month for Prestige Customer After the recent Wales Tourist Board audit of activities 'Wales Tourist Board Annual Report 2001-2002 - Thinking Big', s8080 were delighted to hear that their Mountain Biking in Wales site was canvassing huge hit counts. The success of the site justifies the effort that s8080 put in, not only to the site itself, but also to the printed materials that were distributed widely to the target audience, as magazine inserts. s8080 are confident that it is this combination of off-line and online marketing that have boosted the visitor figures for the site to their current high levels. The tourist board's report talks about rebounding from the effects of Foot and Mouth by concentrating on activity-based marketing, of which the Mountain Biking in Wales campaign was a significant part and goes on to say: 'By the end of the year, the mountain biking website - www.mbwales.com - was registering about 1 million hits a month, 3,000 people were receiving regular e-mail information and an estimated 150,000 people a year were visiting Coed y Brenin.' Later in the same publication, this point is emphasised: …'The website - www.mbwales.com - is currently receiving well over 1.2 million hits per month, allowing us to build a consumer database of regular and potential mountain biking visitors.' Mike Bews, s8080's managing director said: 'We are delighted to have played a key role in both the development and the marketing of this site - which is having a real and tangible benefit to the Welsh tourism market.' s8080 continues to work with the Wales Tourist board, developing additional speciality web sites and printed media, notably for the walking and adventure holiday markets.
